Tommy Walker

There are movers, there are shakers, one hit wonders and if the artist is lucky enough even two hit wonders. In the world of Christian contemporary worship there is probably no mover and shaker as Tommy Walker. Tommy Walker's music can be heard in Christian churches all around the world during praise and worship. Yup, Tommy's music has that kind of impact. Tommy's background includes jazz and fusion plus theology and this background is evident in Tommy's praise and worship songs. I had the pleasure to see Tommy Walker up close and personal at a music workshop a few years back at our church. Tommy brought his drummer Bob Wilson of Seawind fame and a prolific songwriter in his own right, his female singer and bass player. Those three along with members of Grace Bible led worship before the breakout sessions. Wow, what a worship that was, annointed by the Lord and just so awesome. On that day Tommy played a custom Fender Stratocaster like guitar that looked like a beautiful purple-ish marble top. Check out the link for Tommy Walker's website and check out his equipment section for the custom guitar maker that made his guitar. As we watched and worshipped the Lord with Tommy and band a few things were quite evident. This man loves the Lord and is just filled with the spirit. When I first saw Tommy onstage he explained that he had just flown into Hawaii. He looked, pardon the expression, "stoned" from a night smoking them funny cigarettes, but in actuality it was a combination of being tired and being filled with the Holy spirit. That explains why this man has been so blessed with the gift of songwriting and excellent musicianship. The next thing I noticed, this man has exceptionally long fingers which make it easy for him to play those extremely difficult guitar chords which requires your fingers to be stretched out over six inches or so. I don't have such long fingers so I just stick with the very basic guitar chords. What follows is an exerpt from Tommy Walker's website. Check out his site for much, much more details. Great reading on a real cool musician, worship leader and man of God.
