It's Not about any one of us.....

This picture along with five thousand other pictures of the 70's Nightclub Reunion VI can be found at Irwin Santos official website of the event at 70sNightclubReunion.Com . When I first saw this picture it just totally blew me away. I had seen the audience from the back on Saturday night all at a standstill watching Natural High as they played for the first time in so many years, but seeing the picture as captured by Irwin Santos, it really hit me. For everyone there it was like taking a time capsule back into time to a time when things were more carefree, moments that were cherished, moments that were just so special. Ah, the old after the hanabata days. You can see it on each and every face in the audience and the band, the aliveness, the bright eyes, the smiles. The audience in this picture were all in that state of mind, standing there somehow going back in time, back to the Hula Hut when Natural High played for them until the wee hours of the morning, and even if it were for just a moment they were back to the old nightclub days of the 70's, it was magic to relive the moment. And while the audience was in that moment back in time, the energy they possessed transferred back to the band who could just feel that for a moment they too were back in time as though nothing had changed!!! Saturday night was just soooooo cool!!!!!!! Pretty awesome!!!

The 70's Nightclub Reunion VI.......

August 1st 2009 will go down in history as one very cool and special night in paradise. The place, the Hibiscus Room and the Garden Lanai in the Ala Moana Hotel. The time, 7:30 pm to after midnight. The event, The 70's Nightclub Reunion VI. This year's new reunion band, none other than Natural High, the six night band at the Hula Hut on Beachwalk during the 70's.

Reunion event number six showed us that like fine wine some things do get sweeter with age. Perhaps with age, seeing friends leave earlier than expected, we learn to appreciate things a lot better because we know that tomorrow is promised to noone. With more than a little perserverence on the part of Roy Yonashiro, one of Natural High's lead singer, continued communications with Robin Kimura and some words of wisdom from Robert Shinoda, Glass Candle's leader/guitar player, the band that was symbolic of the 70's Hawaii nightclub scene would finally be a part of Robin & Candace's Reunion Event.

Natural High and the entire lineup of bands for event number VI did not disappoint. After playing our 45 minute set with Greenwood, I plopped myself down and really enjoyed each band so much. Each band brought its own personality to the dance and those fortunate enough to be there that night knew that they were witnesses to something very special. When the lights were finally turned on after hana hou number two for Natural High, it was evident from the smiles on everyones face that the 70's Nightclub Reunion series was special indeed. The 70's Nightclub Reunion VI? Now that was really, really cool!!!!
